R&E Offers Advice to African-American Nonprofits

Roy J. Rodney Jr., Chair of the National Bar Association’s Ad Hoc Committee on Nonprofits organized its first seminar entitled, Advising Nonprofits: Survival Strategies for African American Institutions at the 89th Annual Convention. The diverse panelists included Mr. Rodney, managing partner of Rodney & Etter, LLC, solo practitioner Aquanetta Betts, Esq., and Desireé Boykin, Esq., the General Counsel for the United Negro College Fund, Inc.
The discussion included mergers and acquisitions, planned giving, nonprofit governance, and our concern for the future of African-American nonprofits and educational institutions. The seminar presented an innovative, creative and proactive take on emerging issues and trends faced by nonprofit organizations and the nonprofit lawyers who advise them.
Mr. Rodney has served as Chair of the National Bar Association’s Ad Hoc Committee on Nonprofits for one term and is also an active member of the Texas Association of Nonprofits Organizations (TANO). Ms. Deontrinelle Green, an associate of Rodney & Etter, assisted with every aspect of the seminar.
